The
WCS position encoding system comprises in the main two components:
the code rail, which is the information carrier for an absolute
code, and the reading head, which scans the code rail opto-electronically.
The
code rail is installed parallel to the runway of the vehicle and
thus assigns a clear position to each point on the runway. It is
possible to install the code rail only where positioning is
required. The system permits the code rail to be installed in
bends and branches to be constructed. The code rail is
manufactured individually for each order and is supplied in a
coil.
